SAMPLE ITINERARY
Canyons & Peaks of Colorado
July 20-27, 2024
Day 1 – Arrive and meet your guides at the Grand Junction (recommended) or Denver airport. Drive to Glenwood Springs and enjoy an afternoon raft trip on the mighty Colorado River as it winds through sky scraping Glenwood Canyon, ending with a zip line adventure over the river. Check into your lodging before a three-course meal in historic downtown Glenwood Springs. 1.5 hours drive time from Grand Junction airport. 3 hours drive time from Denver International Airport.
Day 2 – After breakfast, we will head up 4,300 vertical feet on the Iron Mountain Tramway to explore the historic Fairy Caves atop Glenwood Canyon. We will have lunch overlooking the canyon before heading back into town for a soak at the Glenwood Hot Springs, the largest hot springs pool in the world. After relaxing our muscles, we will drive up the Roaring
Fork Valley to Snowmass Village where we will check into our lodge and enjoy a three-course dinner. 45 minutes drive time.
Day 3 – Enjoy breakfast before heading to the iconic Maroon Bells. We will have some time to explore the most photographed peaks in North America before getting on bikes and cruising downhill on pavement past scenic Aspen groves and red-rock cliffs. We will pick up the Rio Grande Trail, a paved bike path that follows the Roaring Fork River, and follow an
old railroad route to famous Woody Creek Tavern, a unique roadhouse grill with a colorful history. Dinner will be an outdoor BBQ at a rustic 4WD accessed cabin on Snowmass Mountain, followed by an evening roasting s'mores around a campfire beneath the Colorado night sky. No drive time.

Day 4 – After breakfast, we will explore the Elk Mountains by foot. Spend the day in the backcountry on an all-day hike that will take us into the high country where we will be surrounded by 14,000-foot peaks and majestic views. Enjoy a trailside lunch and dinner on your own in Snowmass Village or Aspen. 1.5 hours drive time.
Day 5 – After breakfast, we will head to the Capitol Creek Valley for an all-day horseback ride under the shadow of Capitol Peak, one of Colorado’s most dramatic 14,000-foot peaks. Lunch will be on the trail. After the ride, we will watch some real cowboys at the Snowmass Village Rodeo as we enjoy a terrific BBQ dinner at the venue. 1.5 hours drive time.
Day 6 – Following breakfast, we will drive to Ouray, a scenic mining town dubbed the “Switzerland of Colorado”. Along the way, we will make a stop at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, one of Colorado’s four national parks. We will spend the afternoon exploring an authentic Colorado gold mine before climbing aboard a historic steam train for our winding journey through the San Juan mountains from Silverton to Durango. Dinner will be a three-course meal in hip downtown Durango. 4 hours drive time.
Day 7 – Breakfast will be followed by an all-day Jeep tour, where we will explore some of the ghost towns that fill the nooks and crannies of the San Juan mountains. We will drive over 17-mile Imogene Pass, the most scenic and memorable route to Telluride. We will dine and stay in charming downtown Telluride. 2.5 hours drive time.
Day 8 – After breakfast, we will spend the day on an outdoor adventure in Telluride. Each guest will have 2-3 customized active adventures to choose from. Lunch will be provided on the tour. Dinner will be a three-course meal in downtown Telluride. No drive time.
Day 9 – After breakfast we will depart for the airport. 2.5 hours drive time to Grand Junction airport. 7 hours drive time to Denver International airport.
